GETTING READY FOR ARRIVAL
Angela Mayne Hamilton,Victoria, Australia WE USE AND RECOMMEND |
My name is Angela Mayne, and along with my husband Adam, and young daughter Lara, we breed & raise British Shorthairs, in Hamilton, in Victoria. We're registered breeders of British Shorthairs with GCCFV here in Victoria, since relocating here from Qld in 2008 where we were members of QFA. We have been breeding & showing since 2006. When we started out, our cattery name was PERISHABLU, but we decided we'd like to breed more than just blue, so changed our name accordingly. We are currently breeding mainly the blue British Shorthairs with the occasional lilac kitten thrown in for good measure. We will soon be venturing into the Bi-colour pattern, with the arrival of our new stud boy "Barney". We focus on breeding healthy kittens first, followed equally by temperament & type. Our main aim at the moment is getting the right mixture of cats who have a lovely semi-cobby body, lovely round heads, small ears with lovely orange/copper eyes. We love showing our cats, but unfortunately the majority of cat shows are 4 hours or more in each direction from where we reside, hence not getting out there often, since having our baby in early 2009. We are more likely to travel interstate to CCCA and ACF National shows than ones held in Melbourne. When we occasionally sell to other registered breeders, we only ever sell cats that we think are worthy of being both shown & bred from - it is our reputations & prefix on the line. We will only sell cats in this circumstance that are good enough that we would not hesitate keeping for ourselves, if we had the time/space. Hence for this reason, we very rarely sell for breeding, preferring our babies go to loving indoor pet homes. Breeders are more than welcome to contact us about acquiring a kitten, but you may have to wait for the right baby to turn up. All our kittens leave our home, having only been indoor cats, which is how we'd prefer them to stay, as it is a big scary world out there for a British Shorthair! They've grown up being used to all household noises, been loved & nurtured by both adults & children, and have also had exposure to our yellow Labrador, "Molly". -Angela, Adam, & Lara PAGE LAST UPDATED: 11th January 2011
